We use the information we collect to:

3. Crisis Support & Confidentiality

If you use our A Quiet Word platform or crisis support services:

• We treat all crisis communications with the utmost confidentiality
• We do not sell or share crisis support data with third parties for marketing
• Anonymous access options are available when possible
• We may be required to break confidentiality if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, as required by law

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate our website:

• Vercel: Website hosting, plus Vercel KV for storing anonymized site-usage counters (page, referrer, and country only, no city, region, or precise coordinates).
• Ko-fi: Donation processing. Donations currently go through a personal Ko-fi account, not a dedicated nonprofit account, and are not tax-deductible until the Foundation has 501(c)(3) status (see the Donate page for details). Ko-fi has its own privacy policy.
• ipinfo.io: On most non-bot pageviews, we look up the network/organization associated with the visitor's IP address, specifically to check it against a short internal watchlist of AI-lab networks (for example, Anthropic). We don't use this for general traffic analysis. If it matches, an internal alert (see Discord, below) is sent to our own team with the IP, the matched organization, the page visited, and an approximate city/country ipinfo.io returns for that alert only; that detail is not stored in our own analytics record.
• Resend: We use this to email ourselves: contact and volunteer form submissions (with your reply-to address so we can respond to you directly), and the internal watchlist alert described above. It is never used to email visitors directly, and you will not receive an email from us through Resend unless you submitted a form.
• Discord: We post the same two notifications above (form submissions and internal watchlist alerts) to a private Discord channel our team uses, so they show up alongside similar alerts from our other sites. Discord has its own privacy policy.

These services may collect information as described in their respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

Site analytics (pages visited, referrers, country) are stored in a shared database also used by other properties run by the same small team, and may be viewed alongside traffic from those properties on an internal dashboard. This data is used for basic traffic analysis, not sold, and not used for advertising.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

• SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure hosting infrastructure
• Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
• An ongoing commitment to reviewing and improving our security practices as we grow

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We don't set any cookies on this website, and we don't use any third-party advertising or tracking pixels. The only thing our own analytics script stores in your browser is a random session id in sessionStorage (not a cookie), used to group your own pageviews and clicks together for that one browser tab. It's never sent anywhere except back to our own analytics endpoint, contains no personal information, and disappears the moment you close the tab.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information (subject to legal requirements)
• Opt out of marketing communications at any time
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

8. Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
